A versão moderna do tijolo LEGO fez na última semana 51 anos de vida. Quando o senhor tijolinho completou 50 anos de vida, foi lançado um conjunto comemorativo, uma edição especial do clássico set Town Plan.

O conjunto, foi totalmente re-desenhado e usa tijolos modernos e reproduz um posto de gasolina de 1950, com direito a bombas de combustível da época, garagem e um lava-carro. Um "Town Hall" que não é nada menos que uma construção central e um cinema, com fachada da época de 1950. E para completar a paisagem a Lego incluiu 2 carros, 8 mini-figuras Lego, cores novas e algumas peças raras

Town Plan vem com uma carta de Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen, o dono da LEGO, que apareceu na caixa do set original e volta a aparecer na atual . E para celebrar os 50 anos, cada set vem com 3 super especiais “tijolos de ouro”!

A história da LEGO começou na Dinamarca em 1932 quando Ole Kirk Christansen fundou uma pequena fábrica de brinquedos de madeira. O nome LEGO vem da fusão de duas palavras em dinamarquês “LEg” e “GOdt” (“play well” ou “brinque bem”).
